use a sound healing bowl in the performance, but similar to what you did for 'player 1 computer' (oh remember that piece), have the sound of the bowl already recorded.

  • so when you play the bowl at the start you can have a timer, pedal, or something that starts the 'piece' off for you seamlessly. so there'll come a point where i'll time playing the bowl with a point in the 'piece' where more frequencies will come out, or there'll be more rhythmic and melodic interest, something interesting going on.
  • but it'll look like, because i'll build it up slowly and seamlessly, that the sound bowl is 'playing' these extra frequencies.
  • maybe make it a bit jarring with a semitonal difference or something. or you could make it harmonious with a third or somet...

✺ THE GOAL: i'm on stage, with my bass slung over my shoulder. the bass feels right on my body, and the audience notice how i tend to the bass like i would a lover - with attention, grace, and gentle caresses. the bass is plugged into an amp and loop pedal. the lights go low and a single spotlight is shone on stage, and i enjoy the silence and the eyes on me as i labour starting the music by a few extra seconds, relishing in the palpable anticipation in the air. my fingers begin to come alive and they play a simple-intermediate riff with understated confidence - i am attuned to the bass - and i tap the loop pedal. i let the loop repeat for a couple bars, and then i build another more exuberant riff on top of it, and press loop. the bass i provide is funky yet grounded, melodically and rhythmically interesting, driving, and thriving. i soon put my bass down and move on to another instrument, but this b...
