  • A summer party in my mum's garden. It had been her birthday a few days before so she celebrated the occasion by inviting some friends and neighbours. I liked spending time with Teresa, Tom and Annika. Apart from the mosquitos (I had to take a shower in order to make them stop biting me) it was a very nice evening.
  • Watching the GER-ITA match at Backstage with Claudia. It was THE most heart-attack inducing game I've ever seen, afterwards I felt like we were already the winner of the tournament. Oh boy. Afterwards there was a 90's party (Sailor Moon!), Claudia found 92,20€ over the course of the night and invited me for a drink, we talked to Manu, Resi and Sabrina a lot and had a really good time.
  • An apartment I like a lot.
  • Seeing seven tiny rabbits at Hirschgarten. They're all over Munich.
  • My pupils (LUKAS!!) are responsible for a flared up Gameboy obsession. They let me play Mario Land during a lesson and I had nothing better to do than going on eBay and getting my old transparent Gameboy Color back. With Tetris DX (I'm such a junkie). And Mario Land 2 Golden Coins, of course.
  • Christo's floating piers and gorgeous pools.
  • The feeling you get when you notice that you want(ed) something very much. For me it's drawing. So shamefully neglected. But when I see someone else leading a creative life I'm so jealous again. Because I often forget that I wanted to become an illustrator so badly at one point. The fascination is still there.
  • Getting tickets for the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert in Munich this November! (I mean, I've only been waiting about 15 years for this...)
  • Even though the FRA-GER match on Thursday was SAD (yes, capital letters - I couldn't even watch anymore after the penalty) Thai Food had a great night with Bibi, Bosse and quite some Pfeffi. Frank left after the game because he was already pretty wasted but the others stayed until 3am when I had to drive Claudia and Fabi home because they were hardly able to walk straight. I had to go to work 4 hours later. Ugh. Still, worth it. I would to see Bibi and Bosse more often, we should organise a get-together soon...
  • Being offered three jobs for next year. Time for some hard decisions!
  • Meeting Simon, Markus and Vroni at Tollwood for the Bilderbuch concert. Best thing: Annenmaykantereit were the surprise support act!! I hadn't been able to get tickets for one of their concerts back in April so that was fantastic. And meeting my old colleagues was great. Too bad we don't manage to get together more often. At least I'm going to go to their summer party at the end of July.
  • Christopher Street Day!! It was the first parade I've ever been to and it was such a beautiful experience. I actually cried a little because all the joy and positive energy were so moving and contagious. I collected some great stickers ("Matz" / "Streicheln auch gut"), rainbow buttons and a good supply of condoms. A drag queen approached me and asked "How are you today, cutie?" And oh boy, these men can dance in 30cm heels, I'm blown away. Before the parade started, Lena and me got some espadrilles in Corneliusstraße, browsed the Wort Wahl bookstore (I wanted ALL THE THINGS) and sat down outside Del Fiore with a vegan coconut shake and ginger lemonade.
  • I bought my first fresh truffle at Viktualienmarkt. I'm going to make delicious truffle pasta next week. I've always wanted to do that! (truffles cost 1€/g by the way...)
  • Having a barbecue on my balcony with the Thai Food gang. Everyone loved my noodle salad and we played a candlelit game of Cards Against Humanity outside until 4am.
  • Spending an afternoon at the Isar with Frank and Sonja. The most delicious sun oil (Garnier!). Playing Exploding Kittens. "Swimming" (=desperately clinging to a boulder) in the river, drinking radler and eating some leftover salads from the barbecue. Meeting Fricki (after months of living in the same city and years of not seeing each other at all she just randomly sat next to me in the grass in a rainbow bikini). Driving up to Wiener Platz, meeting Manu and Susa and watching the final EM match with a glass (well, okay, two glasses) of Lillet Wildberry in my hand. They came with huge, mouth-watering strawberries and MAYBE I shouldn't have taken the car that day.
  • Sleeping in on a Monday. Grading the last artworks of this school year with Claudia in the evening. King prawns and halloumi on the grill. Making plans to get fit. We set up a badminton date for tomorrow!
  • Playing cards with my students instead of teaching. I won. Ha. Also, Lukas said that he thinks I'm a great teacher once I can thrive in a more receptive environment.
  • Pokémon Go is fun... and all the shit talk that comes with it (Miss S., there's a Pikachu in the history room! Let's go and catch it instead of learning English today?). I love playing it in a traffic jam or on the bus because you get to reach so many Pokéstops in a short amount of time.
  • I bought some beautiful new plants and a retractable garden hose for my balcony #lazy #AWESOME
  • New crescent moon jewellery from &otherstories.
  • Making fresh truffle pasta with Frank. Delish! Drinking wine, talking about our plans for a personalised CAH set. Going to Strom together for a Momentum party. Having a really good time until he got drunk.
  • There's now a Boesner store at Ostbahnhof! I'm so excited!!!
  • ARTE's (fast) Die ganze Wahrheit.
  • Tim Urban: Inside the mind of a master procrastinator.
  • The new dip eyebrow gel by Trend it Up. Perfect. I guess I'll need to buy a spare one. Just in case.
  • A very long night at Backstage, arguing a lot about the 'Nein heißt nein' law, being a victim to four (!) unwanted actions by men myself that night. Scoring a lot of drinks from Johnny and his 'bitch' and another beer from the birthday boy in desperate need for a new challenge. Dancing with Frank to Bilderbuch. Kissing a weird metalhead.
  • Playing badminton with Claudia at Westbad. Going on the prowl for some Pokémon.
  • A day at Starnberger See with Susi and Claudia. A beautiful view of the Alps, playing volleyball in the water and CAH (with four expansion packs!) on the picknick blanket. A plethora of delicious food (and a damn fine onion steak at Alter Wirt in Höhenrain in the evening). Singing along to some old tunes in the car. Watching the huge, yellow moon rise over the Bavarian countryside.
  • Poussey as the Hare Krishna (?) bicycle gang's human figurehead in the season finale of Orange Is the New Black.
  • A very spontaneous trip to the Langwieder lake with Resi and Sabrina. They talk so much that you have to be very quick if you want to say something, too. I love them.
  • The sense of community and care for each other after the Munich shooting on Friday evening. Driving through the city that night to pick up my stranded friends was a very weird experience. Spooky...
  • Eating wild strawberries growing on my balcony. Well, and ramen noodles. Oh and white pistachio truffles.
  • Splitting up on vacation. We did that twice in Japan and I loved these days, they felt extra special to me.
  • Getting the apartment tidy(ish) after weeks of stepping over huge piles of stuff on the floor.
  • A reunion with Frank after his bus tour with the Fabis through Belgium and France. Seeing a concert at Free&Easy. Discussing everyday sexism again. Getting a hug just because he thinks I'm great (much more so than I do apparently). A warm goodbye.
  • Going out and staying up late even though I've got to show up early at work. This is the life! A quick shoutout to Aldi's quite acceptable (at least not vomit-inducing) raspberry flavoured energy drinks while we're at it.
  • Playing Risk against Claudia and Frank. Winning both times against these warmongers has been one of my biggest accomplishments this month.
  • Some good talks lately (with Bibi, Frank and Sabrina), mostly on a bench somewhere at Backstage.
  • Celebrating the end of the school year with my colleagues from this and last year. Dancing at Paradiso. Sharing a cab with Anna and Beni who are a couple now. I didn't know that. How wonderful. Lunch with Babsi, Hermann and Bettina. Making plans with Bettina to visit Catherine in France.
  • The worst class gave me flowers, chocolate and poems on the last school day. We took selfies, gave each other group hugs - even the coolest dude approached me and hugged me goodbye. I'm starting to get the feeling that I MIGHT have done SOMETHING right this year.
  • Remembering the fact that my dad used to hold my little finger when I was supposed to fall asleep. I didn't want to be alone. But it was only a finger so he could sneak out more easily.
  • Getting exactly the job I wanted. Exciting. Now I only need to find a nice flat...
  • Going to the Kaltenberg knight tournament for the first time with Ashley and Kilian. I wouldn't have minded taking Prince Erec home with me... And I got some really nice jewellery. Afterwards I had a nice board game evening with Maike, Lena and Tobi.
